Aer Lingus Advance Check In

Going away for the weekend, outbound with Ryanair, back with Aer Lingus.

Trying to check in online with Aer Lingus. Since it's more than 30 hours away, have to use the 'Advance Check In'.

But then it's forcing me into seat selection, and won't let me continue without choosing a seat, at a fiver each.

Am I missing something, or is it impossible to check in with Aer Lingus more than 30 hours in advance without being forced to pay extra?

you have to pay extra if outside 30 hours.
the best thing to do is to checkin on your smartphone within 30 hrs or checkin at the airport, in my experience.

    Jesus that's daft, thanks.

Can't check in on the phone as Berlin isn't one of the routes it's offered on, so guess we'll just have to go to the airport early.

yah you can always checkin at the hotel. ive never had one refuse to print out my boarding card for me. with aer lingus its generally just as easy at the airport though, but ive not flown berlin with them.

I find it's often painful from other airports. Their agents seem to be on commission for checked bag fees and they'll often weigh every piece of hand luggage which takes forever as everyone will try and argue.
