seagate ejecting from mac

    Howdy, I have a seagate 320gb that I use for backup and it had been working fine up until recently. I have a powerbook g4 using OS X 10.5.8 and when I plug in the seagate it sees it and begins backup. However after a few minutes the drive unmounts itself and then re emerges again for Norton drive scan. I have already tried erasing the disk and starting again from scratch, but it did no good. Any ideas folks ??

    There's your problem right there ! Why have you got Norton antivirus installed ? The only thing it does on your PPC Mac is ensure no windows machines you share with contract viruses. It also uses resources and takes up space on your hard disk.

    As for your 320GB drive, have you checked it for errors ? How is it formatted ?

    Hi there and thanks for your response. I have since tried to eliminate the Norton drive scan from my computer by searching for all things Norton which I duly dumped. But the damned thing is still doing it, where is it hiding? I cant find any reference to Norton on my computer anywhere? The Seagate is Mac OS extended (Journaled) and otherwise seems to be functioning OK. Its a mystery.:confused:

    It's probably on your Seagate drive.

    (Let this be a lesson to all Mac users. So-called "Anti Virus" software will cause far more problems than it solves!)

    Just erased the seagate drive, and the first thing it did was a Norton antivirus scan. Where the hell is the damn thing ?:mad:
