My raft foundation is complete with 2 layers of T12 mesh throughout as well as cages etc that go into raft foundation.

Insulation is in also and underfloor heating pipes are to go in first thing Saturday morning. There is to be 100mm concrete going in on top of all of this also saturday. Should there be any kind of reinforcement in that concrete to stop cracking. There is a huge amount of steel already in foundation so it would have no structural worth. Or is there something cheaper/easier to lay that would be worth putting in. Will be on a tight schedule Saturday morning so have to decide. Neither underfloor guys nor structural really think its necessary but maybe someone would have another opinion.

    Help greatly appreciated

your talking about the final screed above the UFH? as distinct from the RC raft? the screed doesn't need reinforcement, it may not need to be 100mm either, but you must confer with your eng

have you a detail you could show us?

the usual construction would be to lay a minimum of two layers of 75mm high density insulation on top of the raft foundation slab, and then pour a 75mm concrete screed over which would contain the UFH system.

however, you must consult with you UFH suppliers and your enginner.

We cannot discuss structural matters in this forum, so i have to lock the thread. If anyone wishes to PM the OP with views there are more than welcome.
