lets say i was caught with a knife after gardai searched me. Im 16 and i told them i took the knife of a drunk guy who i felt put me and my friend in danger. When i seen police coming towards us i hid it down my socks and gardai searched me and bought me to the station. They let me go and said they will be in contact with me. Im kind of scared on whats going to happen to me as knife laws in ireland i know are strict. Can someone please tell me what will most likely happen and what i should do? Its my 1st offense so im not to sure how it works.

Also today i went to collect my phone from gardai station (I forgot it there last night) and a guard asked me if i knew anything about people robbing drink from a supervalue here. I do know i was there with the boys but i didn't steal anything . I told him that i was there and didn't know people were stealing. He said again he will be in contact with me.

Can someone please help me im only 16 doing my leaving cert now and that's already stressful enough. Im not a trouble maker its just the area i live in ain't to good . i feel really bad now.

If you take responsibility (that doesn't mean admit to things you didn't do) for your actions this will most likely be applied:

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/justice/children_and_young_offenders/garda_juvenile_diversion_programme.html

Then again the Gardai may not apply it if they see you are a good kid and from a good home they may just let your parents deal with you.

Either way youre not going to prison so try relax somewhat.

My friend is not a good kid, he's not the worst but his face would have been known to the fuzz. He was found with a flick knife in his possession. He got a €1500 fine and 300 hours community service.

You're clearly palling around with the wrong sort and that will go against you no matter how good a little boy you are!

But you are definitely NOT getting banged up!!!

Legal discussion aside, distance yourself from "the boys".

Carrying knives and hanging around with criminals at 16 is a recipe for disaster.

How old is your friend? Has he been before the courts before?

Your post isn't helpful to the OP by the way. Fines/community service or prison will not apply to the OP because he said he is 16 and has never been in trouble before.

Oh well ignore what I said then. Except for the company he's keeping. You lie down with dogs you get up with fleas!

You may be arrested and detained for the purpose of questioning in relation to the crimes. You may be charged or summonsed for them or you may just get a juvenile caution. The Garda will most likely discuss this with your parents. I presume you have told them already.
