Ebay occasionally do some free listings days to post stuff you trying to sell. It is possibel to find out when these days are as i am looking to sell a lot of stuff and dont want to do it and then turn round the next day and its free to list

    thanks Paddy

Normally at the end of the month they do free listing.but if your listing a good bit
use photo bucket to host your photos,
what i do is list an item with the starting bid of 1.49 and one photo then you can use as many photos for that listing via photo bucket so the cost to ebay is nil

I've been selling on ebay for a couple of months now.

It all depends on what you are selling and the most popular market (I think) on ebay is the technology area (console games, iphones, computer drives etc.) I've sold 3 items so far on ebay but one item managed to get lost in Italy so I would avoid selling to Europe as it can get complicated so stick with UK and Ireland as a beginner.

The only thing that puts people off selling on ebay is that you have to pay fees.

    The fees are:

    Invoice:
Which is what you send people before getting paid so they know how much to pay.

Listing fees: They can be avoided by selling on the free listing days as said above.

There may be a couple more but thats from the top of my head.

If you ever decide to sell on ebay I wish you good luck and enjoy!

On a related note: It always says that the seller has to be elegible. What does this mean? I've signed up and tried to list things, but it still has the listing fee, on said free listing days. Do you have to have sold things?

I've never seen an invoice fee?

I generally list items for €1.49 (or less) or use the free days and don't incur any fees. After that e-bay takes 10% of the final valuation. (So if something sells for €20, they take €2). paypal charge too. it usually works out about 10% too.

All fees are on their sites though. Not much sneakiness about it. start off with small items, and that way you can sell without potentially losing money on the listings

I'd agree with sticking to UK/Ireland initially to get to grips with the whole preocess.
I've sold to a fair few countries in Europe and haven't had any trouble except with Italy. I would say if you are going to post to there, only post tracked, it is common enough for things posted to Italy to go missing/arrive incomplete. You only have to google "Italian postal system" to see that it's not the most reliable.

I read that but I can't see anything about my question. It doesn't mention whether you have to have already sold things on your account, or if it is free for a private seller with no sales yet.
