Quick question, I did a search on this and couldn't find anything. What's the trigger speed for the southbound fixed camera on the m50? I think I went over the lines at 104km/h (worst case) in the 100km/h zone.

I'm hoping it's 5% and that my speedo over reads!

As far as I know there's no working speed traps on the south bound section of the M50, just white line markings between the N2 and N3 section but no actual cameras there.

Markings but no cameras yet on the M50, as far as I know (I only travel the section north of the toll regularly, though).

I was under the impression none of the fixed speed traps on the M50 were active  ;)

There is one active one north bound just before the M1 I think?

Ha ha, good to see not much has changed since I've been gone. Those white markings must be there the guts of 2 years (nb just before tallaght, sb just before blanch) and still no cameras???

in essence this is a good thing as most people do 120 anyway

I was always weary of that one alright but I never actually saw a camera although it has been a good 7 months since I've passed there

There was but since the junction was made freeflow and the road widened, they don't seem to have replaced the camera, although they did re-do the road markings.

While on the suject of speed camera's can anyone point to the rules for where a speed van can be located? i.e must be further than x metres from where the speed limit changes? I've searched but can't find it.

100m I believe. Thats GoSafe. Not sure about Garda.

But you have to remember, if your in a e.g. 120km/h section and your coming up to a 80km/h section, you should be doing 80km/h from the sign, as to the letter of the law, thats where the 80km/h begins. So technically 10m after the signs, you'd have a case that you were speeding if you were above 80km/h.

Obviously thats stupid and no Garda / Van would be just bang after the sign, but people need to understand there is legally no 'transition zone' or whatever between speed limits.
