    Afternoon all,

Hope someone can help, I applied for a med card in Aug 2011 as i have a long term illness , further info was sent in Sept 2011 - on the website when i put my ref number in i'm told if i'm not contacted by 24/09/11 that i'm to contact the hse.

I have done so almost every 2 weeks since and am being told the same rubbish all the time "we'll send up a query, it'll be 10 days before they reply" None of these queries have been answered. I've emailed the head of client registration and made numerous phone calls. I now don't know where to turn or what to do, could anyone give me some suggestions how to get this sorted

I was waiting from July to January for the medical card, and heard recently that the waiting list is up to 8 months now. (from a C.W.O.)
What i can't understand is why is the waiting time so long, it never was before.
People are enduring genuine suffering and hardship over this, and it is such a cynical practice of the govt. to delay issuing medical cards to people to save a few quid. People who have paid tax all their lives being denied care for months on end, ppl with cancer etc. Makes me sick & angry.
I hope your card comes thru asap. I kept ringing up about mine, good luck.

    Hi Little Miss,

Are you a new applicant or a renewal? If a renewal then they are now apparently allowing applicants to use their expired medical card numbers:

I would advise emailing your local TD immediately.

    Good luck:)

Hi there, I also applied in August. I got a letter in October for some o/s information (which they already had). They got the documents on 21/11/11 and my card was issued on Tuesday 14/2/12. I phoned a few times so maybe keep trying that approach.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting that. I was starting to get worried, mine is up at the end of the month, posted in the renewal ages ago and never heard back. On quite a few scrips. Glad they sorted that part out.

Thanks so much everyone for the replies. I can't believe it but I got an email from the hse this morning, so fingers crossed this will get sorted soon. I'll keep ye all posted.

Thanks again for all the help :)

Do they still insist on 6 month bank statements??

I think that's usually the standard. I didn't need any when I renewed. If you don't have 6 months, I would just give them what you do have.
