    Hi,

If I walk into an Irish bank with 500euro in cash will they be able to (want to) exchange it for 500euro note? I don't have a bank account in Ireland and I'd like it for a gift.

You could if the bank has one in, other wise you might have to order it for the following day. Even if you do get one, there are very little places you could spend it, the person will probably have to go to a bank to get it changed into smaller notes.

I wouldnt expect a bank to have €500 notes in branch. Not many of them about. The €200 is common enough that a bank should have them and most places will accept them.

Not many shops will take a €500 note.

Thanks for the answers folks.. I'm hoping that seeing as he could never cash the note he'd be forced to put it into the bank rather than spending it all in the same shop :-)

Casinos will have them. Go into the Fitzwilliam or Sporting Wmporium.
