Thinking of buying a plough for my own use reseeding etc. It will be going on a jd6320 with 540/65r38 on back. Any you guys got any ideas what might suit? It will not be doing alot maybe ten acres a year etc. Last time I ploughed was with a ford 3000 n a two sod plough when I was 18. Something straightforward n simple really I'm looking for!

with that kind of acreage would you not be better off getting a contractor in to do it?

Well I might but I like the job and have the time so that's why I want to do it myself.

you'd be looking for a 3 or 4 furrow Kvernland but to have comfort get one with a hydraulic cross shaft to follow the tractor right,

does he even need a reversable?

I don't think I need a reversible to be honest. What are my options either way?

i think your right. a reversable not nessicary for what you want.
someone far more knowledable than me should be able to tell you what sort of boards you need.
seems a good selection on DD atm.

something that has auto reset if you are on stony ground unless you dont mind replaciing shear bolts and getting up/down from tractor all day.

    disc's needed for grassland
    skimmers probably unnessicary though.

but again some1 far more knowledgeable than me can tell you whats a good match for your tractor

Ya seen d ones on. DD just wondering are the tyres I have a bit on the wide side or what would suit them? Would a 14 inch plough be ok? Or what does 14 inch mean?

wasn't on about a reversable, u can get a conventional spring loaded with a hydraulic cross shaft should pick one up for around 1500, 2000euros

A 14 inch plough means that each furrow is 14 inches wide i.e. if you have a 4 furrow plough you'd be ploughing 56 inches in each pass.

For 10 acres a year I'd go with a standard 4 furrow on that tractor, she's about 110 hp right? Something like this would suit perfectly: http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/machinery/3018516

If you wanted to be really cost effective just pull out the 2 furrow again, just replace the boards and skimmers if there are any. You'd be able to do 15 miles an hour no bother pulling that!

    appologies.
never heard of that unless you mean variwidth?

No, the variwidth changes the width of all the furrows, typically from 12 or 14" up to 20". The hydraulic cross shaft moves the whole plough to the left or right. It's to make sure you're leaving the width of one furrow between the inside of the right wheel of the tractor and the point of the first body of the plough.

Viewtodiefor, where in the country are you? I've a nice 3 furrow Kverneland conventional plough that I'm half considering upgrading to a 4 furrow reversible.

I'd say the old 2 furrow would breake up at 3 mph not to mind 15

It's in good shape. Wouldn't be the same as that one above. It's an AD 85 model - auto reset, hydraulic cross shaft and vari-width, with discs all round. Fairly similar to this one...
    Kverneland-AD-85-hydrein,a173e510.jpg

I'd be looking for about 3,500 for it. Don't want to be hijacking the thread, so if you need any more info feel free to PM me about it.

Jd 6320 would pull a 3furrow overum reverseable with ease. Better off wwith a reverseable rather than going in circles..

The day of conventional ploughs went out with the 3 legged stool milking parlor.
IMV Grégoire Besson are the best.
