Missed Rent Supplement

I missed my rent supplement on the 3rd of February because I came down with quite a bad flu and during the time after I was very ill and couldn't get in touch with the CWO. I have now missed the following Fridays payment which was on the 10th of February due to serious family emergency. I was once again unable to get in touch with my CWO. I'm going to see him on Friday.
What are the chances that I will get my payment, or will I have to re-aply all over again? :( I'm so worried about this and I don't know what to do. Someone please shed some light on this horrible situation I have gotten myself into :( I'm now 13 days late!!!

Talk to the CWO and explain the situation. I don't think there will be a huge problem.

Don't get too het up. If the CWO is reasonable you should be fine.

How do you get your payment?

I usually collect in the post office, I went and the payment was not on the system. I'm just worried that I will have to apply all over again. Is this a possibility? Or will the CWO just put the money back on to the system for me to collect at a later date? Is there anyway I can get the money straight into my bank account?

There is no way they will pay direct into your account any more, but I think you can ask to have your RS paid by cheque in the post.

It's up to the CWO, but I can't see them realistically making you apply from the start. It does seem unfortunate that you missed two weeks without being able to get in touch with them.

Did you make an effort to tell them what was happening? Can you prove it- for instance, if you phoned did you leave messages, or is there a record on the call list on your phone?

When you were ill, did you go to the doctor? Do you have some proof of the family crisis you had to attend to?

Whatever happens, if you are eligible for Rent Supplement, you should get it, and worrying about it won't make any difference.

Get a good night's sleep and be there early on Friday and explain your case calmly and clearly. I would bet that everything will work out okay.

They still pay directly into peoples bank accounts

I missed mine once. It goes back to them and then gets reissued, it took like 10 days or something. I don't know if its automatic or not because I rang them, but I was able to get the payment back.

Think it depends on where you are or maybe up to the CWO, because I was told no way, no how, not a chance, and that was while I was doing a CE scheme and finding it hard to get to the post office before closing.

I was also told it was impossible back when I was getting RS, but they offered to send me a cheque. However the CWO insisted on a weekly cheque (my rent was paid monthly) because "it might go missing".
