2005 Ford Fiesta engine light

My check engine light (yellow) (see image below) started flashing about a day after filling my engine with petrol. I was driving for around 2 hours and it flashed for a few seconds twice. Then after filling the car with petrol again it started flashing for the third time and then stayed on constantly.
The car was chugging every so often during this as if the engine was "missing".
There was no power when first accelerating. I had to drive the car for a further hour to get to college.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?
Is it safe to drive the car for a further 2 and a half hours to get it home?

Faulty coil would be common on a fiesta.

On most cars the fault has to happen 3 times before the light will stay on permanently so that would be why the light flashed a few times before coming on totally.

    Flashing MIL = misfire.

Those engines suffer from coilpack failure very regularly as well as plug lead problems. I wouldn't recommend driving it on a long journey in that condition unless you have absolutely no alternative.
