my laptop was workin fine until during the weekend it just turned off for no reason. when i tried to turn it on again it wouldnt load my operating system (windows 7), so i had to load it in safe mode. when it was loaded a window popped up saying there was some program running that would not allow my system to work but didnt tell me what it was. i tried to reinstall windows 7 but wont work. i also tried a system restore but that didnt do anything either. now my laptop is very slow to load and the layout has completely changed. any windows that i open look really old fashioned, like the original windows 95 layout. any internet pages i open are very basic, usually in black and white. no pictures or colour show up like arrows, buttons or links. my antivirus is still working though.
anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it or what i can do?
if its something i cant fix myself can anyone suggest someone to fix it in the midlands?

Can you tell us why installing a new operating system did not work, what is your laptops model number and is there any distortion in first screen that shows up when you press power button (usually manufacturer logo)

It could be just driver related problem - try installing Video card driver again or if you can't find it, delete display device in device manager and restart your laptop.

You should also scan your system with different antivirus suite like Malwarebytes Antimalware (freeware) and some HardDrive testing tool "HD Tune" for example. Tell us what did they find.

i wasnt able to reinstall the operating system at all. tried it a few time and it just kept saying an update wasnt available and ejecting the cd. i have a lenovo T60. its in great condition and never gives trouble (until now anyway). there is no distortion in first screen, dont notice a difference at all until the desktop is loaded.
i just installed a new graphics card driver and that didnt work. ran Malwarebytes and it showed no threats detected and ive HD tune running now. its reading mimimum 0.1 MB/s and max 19MB/s average 5.5MB/s. do ye want any other info from Hd tune? or anywhere else indeed!

What happens when you try and reinstall the operating system exactly? Do you have a windows 7 disk? Or are you trying to use a recovery partition?

If you have a disk, format the drive with the windows disk, and do a complete install. Don't allow it to install updates on install if that's what's causing the error.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you just popped the disk in and let it work away.

Did you boot into the Windows 7 disk? And run the installer from there, remembering to format the drive when you install?
