Lanzarote for my parents?

I am planning a surprise birthday present for my parents next month as both their birthdays are only weeks apart. They are both in their late fifties, early sixties and are the type that normally considers somewhere like Lisdoonvarna to be a great holiday!

Back when I was a teenager they took myself and my sister to Lanzarote on a Falcon family holiday in 2003 to Puerto Del Carmen, it was a self catering place and was grand, low rise and mainly young familys and retired older folk and was totally free of yobbos.

I haven't been to Spain or the Canaries since and neither have parents so myself my sister have decided to surprise them and my mum is in on it also as it is my Dad's 60th and he has retired recently so we want to surprise him as they often talk about how nice it would be to go to there again.

I have only just started researching it now and am a little clueless on this Spanish resort as we want them to get somewhere nice for around €500-€550pps for a week. I'm not sure whether to go to a travel agency or book online, my aunt goes out there a few times a year and stays in her brother in laws apartment so all she has to buy is the flight, she said that going independent like this might be a better solution.

    Any tips or recommendations?

    Hi

My parents go out there at least 3 times a year so i usually take care of booking it for them as the net would't be there greatest friend,

They use a friends apartment out there with the last few years so all i book for them is the flights, but before they had the use of the apartment i always found travelrepublic.ie a great site for booking hotels/apartment,

You are better off booking the flights and apartment sepertly, ryanair are usually the cheapest but aer lingus often do offers so just keep an eye on it.

Can you get the same apartment?
Otherwise I'd be looking at Hotel Los Fariones or the apartments in the same complex
Right on the beach, great location generally

Thanks for the recommendations guys, my sister and I booked them a place on Sunway and it gets good enough reviews so hopefully it will be nice. It will be their first time back to Lanzarote in almost a decade and first sun holiday since 2003 also!
