Track Pump Problem

I have a BBB track pump, its maybe two to three years old.
Anyway as of last week, when I use it just wont work.

To be as graphic as possible, when there is any air in the tyre tube, it causes the plunger on the handle of the track pump to get an "erection" so to speak.
ie the air blows back into the track pump causing the handle and plunger to rise out of the track pump to full extension.

Is there something that I can do to fix the track pump or is it kaput so to speak.

Sounds like the tube valve is being kept open by the hose connector.Maybe you're pushing the hose connector down too much?

I also have a BBB track pump and I think what you have described happened mine. I managed to unscrew the nozzle parts and put them back together and whatever that did it worked again after. Sound like it would work?

Thanks wacker, I'll take it. Sunday.

Thanks for advice guys. I don't think I am pushing the connector down to much as I have tried various tubes with valve lengths.

@coastwatch - tried your suggestion and still have a problem. No change.

As soon as I attach the nozzle to the valve airs comes out immediately.

If there is no air in the tube it will not pump up as any air pushed in simply comes back out.

I had a BBB track pump for a couple of years, I was having trouble with the connector. Was trying to get a new head for it, but in the end got a new leyzne track pump- think it was 24 quid or so on wiggle or crc. The difference in quality is unreal, MUCH better than the BBB one.
