Full disclosure: I am one of the organisers of this event, but have run it past the other mods to ensure this is all kosher. Any abuse of power is purely coincidental ;)

Anyway, I'm part of a film MSc and as part of our course we have to make a feature film next month. We're currently trying to raise funds for this, and we're running a film table quiz as part of this. Oh, a table quiz: how ****ing boring. But we've jazzed things up a notch to make it more fun.

You can find details here and here (warning: latter link contains excess levels of social networking) but basically we've taken influence from the likes of Mario Kart and Monopoly Deal (you should play the latter if you haven't already) and come up with what we hope will be a really fun evening.

The whole night has a film theme, but the rounds are not going to be based on 'knowledge' in the traditional sense so it's pretty much fair game for every team. Our 'gamechanger' cards, on the other hand, aren't fair in the slightest, but we've designed them in order to add a bit of energy and unpredictability to proceedings :)

Anyway, the quiz is on Wednesday 22nd in Bia Bar on Drury Street. Would love to see some of you there :) Interest has been surprisingly high so if you'd like to reserve a table feel free to drop me a PM. Hopefully there'll be tables on the night, but advanced booking will be encouraged.

Cheers film forum guys and gals!

Sounds fantastic. You know I like my unusual movie quizzes :D

    Must organise another one soon...

I'll try and get a table together.

    Best of luck!

You're having a film quiz which clashes with the film festival? What kind of film buffs are ye?

Actually, I accidentally bought tickets to see Your Sister's Sister at the film fest, which clashed with this. But, in an extraordinarily happy coincidence, got an email yesterday informing me that they're putting on a screening earlier in the week with the director in attendance. Tickets swapped and everything is as it should be :)

Steady on. As a film buff myself I don't see anything wrong with the scheduling. It's not as if there is anything worth watching that night in the JDIFF...

Do we need to "book" this or can we just turn up on the night?

If you want to book a spot, PM me and I'll sort you out :) There should be a few free tables on the night, but honestly we're getting more interest than we expected so it's hard to tell what it'll be like.
