Im looking for a job and my wife has suggested going to a recruitment agency, I have never been to one so dont know what I should do, I have no qualifications except a SPSV licence and PSA licence but have over twenty years experience dealing with customers , I have never failed in an interview and never been out of work, in fact most of the times Ive changed jobs I was offered the job because of my experience and reputation.
Anyway, should I go to a recruitment agency or just keep searching for a job my self ? Can anyone recommend a recruitment agency in Navan ?

A lot of companies only use recruitment agencies; they don't deal with direct applications. So when a lot of people refuse to go through an agency, they're potentially cutting down their options considerably. So, in my opinion, it's often worth the hassle of dealing with them.

Also, some agents are actually good at offering advice, and not just forwarding emails back and forth between a candidate and the employer. So, if you arrange a meeting with a few good agencies, they might be able to talk you through your experience, advise you on your CV and give you some ideas on what sort of jobs to apply for.

Even the biggest and best agency won't have every vacancy available, so I don't know if I would just deal with one. Also, they don't work for you, they work for the employer. So, by the same token, you don't need to "commit" to any one agency.

I don't know any agencies in Navan, but I definitely think you should consider talking to a few, if you get some good recommendations. Don't limit yourself to just agencies in Navan though, a good few agencies will deal in vacancies around the country.

I had a good experience with http://www.frsrecruitment.com, but that's 4 years ago and in IT, so I don't know if that's much use.
