Is there any point in getting a Sky card to go into my old digibox?

I have been using it happily fro the past while without a card and am happy to just use the channels that are free to use (BBC ,ITV SKY News etc etc ).

But in the back of my mind I seem to remember that there may be some extra channels that may also be available if a card is inserted into the box.

I am not talking about taking out a subscription just using an out of date card (from the UK I think).
