Laptop has blown up, what next?

Ok so it may not have actually blown up but it may as well have as it is beyond repair. So my question is, what kind of laptop should I get now?

I have had 2 previous laptops, both Dell, and I think it is safe to say I will not be buying another Dell. I have been looking at the Mac Book Pro and of course they look great and all that but are they seriously worth the money? I was looking at the 13 inch Macbook Pro - 2.4Ghz Dual Core i5 which is approx €1200 and that may be stretching the budget a bit far.

Now to be honest I got all caught up in the pretty Mac Book and haven't really had a deep look into other laptops so this is why I'm here. I will need it for web browsing, will need Office on it for college stuff, and a bit of gaming, in particular Football Manager 2012 which didn't run too smoothly on the dell I had which had a 250GB HD and 2GB of RAM.

    So any suggestions?

It's a helluva lot of money for that spec. I've just picked up an ASUS 17.3", 2.4GHz, 750G HD, 8G ram, 1G dedicated graphics for just over half that price.

Where abouts did you buy it? I heard Asus are meant to be good alright. Seems like some machine you got as well.

Komplett though the exact model is sold out. ASUS seems to be the most reliable according to this from a couple of years ago. Only danger is if something does go wrong, Komplett's processes are a pain.

Anything with a second generation i3 processor (eg i3-xxxx not i3-xxx) will do you fine. They come with the integrated HD3000 GPU which should run football manager fine, as well as other light/older games.

Asus laptops are as solid as a rock I may add.

Something like this would do fine http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/ASUS_K53E-SX962V_1120763.html.

I think after having a good look through a few websites, Asus has certainly caught my eye. Definitely been put off getting a Mac, way too expensive when you consider what's actually under the hood and I'm not overly worried about what the laptop looks like.

Been looking closely at a few on Komplett:

    1st 13.3"
    2nd 13.3"
    1st 15.6"
    2nd 15.6"
    3rd 15.6"

So what are your guys opinions on these ones? I know it comes down to personal opinion at this stage but like to hear a bit of feedback on them. Still very undecided over screen size.

Would go with a 13.3" personally, am typing on a work 14" Latitude (don't like Dell and this has had its problems).
Anything bigger is like having a block on your lap.
If they had an 11.6", i3 - 2XXXM chip, SSD drive, backlit keyboard and anti glare screen I would write a cheque in the morning.
Would go with a Thinkpad Edge, 13.3", i3 or i5-2xxxm from Lenova but thats because its well engineered.

yeh I think I'm gonna go with the 13.3" and I'd say I will go for one of the two I put up here. Maybe the one for 630 as it has an 8 Cell battery rather than the 6 cell in the other one.

Yeah, I would go for the 8 cell for longer life

Ok so I have decided on this one and have just one more question: Is Komplett.ie the best place to buy it? I'm assuming I'm better off getting it online rather than trying to find it in store somewhere?
