Ok, as there's been a little discussion on the "Show you mine" format, I wanna know what you folks want, please vote on the poll. Feel free to discuss here, but please keep the discussion on how it should work to this thread.

How should the Show You Mine thread work? 18 votes

    No pic, no post

No pic, no post - with separate discussion thread

I think there should only be one "show you mine" thread but with no quoting pics allowed.

If someone wants to comment on a particular piece would it not be easier to quote the post (minus pic) and have they're say there, rather than switching threads??? I can see the flow of a discussion only thread getting pretty confusing fairly quick.

Yeah I don't have much of an issue with people commenting, quoting pics is a no no obv.

    The first means no chat.
The second means no chat with a seperate chat thread.
The third means you are allowed to chat, but not allowed to quote pics.

I don't mind the chat as long as it is relevant and not just "Nice tattoo."

TBH I think it'd be better with either no chat or a seperate thread if people want that, I have a slow connection and love looking at the pics but I hate opening the thread and waiting for ages only to find out there's nothing I haven't already seen =/ Like yeah it's nice to get praise but isn't that what the thanks button is for?

Why are the results of the poll hidden? Is this Russia?

Yeah, same here. No reason why people can't make a comment without quoting the pic too.

It's a bit silly alright, but I'm sure the OP has a valid, logical reason??

I just wanted everyone's unbiased opinion, regardless of what everyone else is voting for! The poll closes in a week, results will automatically be shown then.

Cos you dont have the power!!!!

Personally I went for option 3.

Seems to be the best option. As long as peeps dont quote pics it will work quite well.

I went with 3, I don't really mind a bit of chat myself.

An alternative suggestion, should this become a contentious issue, would be a main thread that acts as a link repository for everyone's individual threads. Thus those who just want to perve would only need to look at the first post in the linked to threads, everyone else could chat away about the pieces to their heart's content.
The problems I can see would be:
    1. Much more of a moderation nightmare for Damo and Hellrazer.
    2. Risk of other discussion threads rapidly being pushed off the first page by the flood of pic threads.

The 2nd could be mitigated by creating a public subforum of tattoos and piercings pics, with the thread here linking to the threads there, unfortunately the first problem I can see no obvious solution for.

Could even do it such that the sticky thread uses the pics as anchors for the links to the other threads, so those who only want to perve never even need to leave the thread here, would require a good instruction post for those who are less tech-savy and need a good guide as to how to do that though.

Yeah this. It's nice when people say why they got the tattoo and others talk about it, but this gets boring.

Perhaps when posting your pic, if you can, you should say where you got it and which artist? To save endless "Who did dis tattoo" :pac:

Good idea, maybe even go so far as to have a template made out for all new posts (easier said than done I know) :o, just to filter out some of the more common questions,

Just using one of my pieces as an example here:

    246781_213441115353171_100000618534281_669911_7524772_n.jpg

Artist: Phil Cummins - Original Skin Tattoo Studio
    Session: 2 of 3
    Hours: 10 (ish)

    Something along those lines anyway

It'd be handy to sticky the old 'Show you mine' thread. Just for looking back on all the great pieces, and for newbies to the forum alike.

    I'd agree with this tbh

I think chat on a separate thread would be a bit confusing, it's natural that people would like to ask questions about or comment on someone's work, but not quote the pic obviously!

    ^^^ This
That's what the 'thanks' button is for. Comments should be more than just 'That's great!'
If people state where they got the tattoo or the idea behind it (if they want) that would also cut out a lot of the 'Who's the artist?' 'What does it mean?' questions also. :)

As voted for, discussion can take place in the thread, but no quoting pictures. Closing this thread now!
