Nissan Primera window regulator with motor

I have a nissan primera (P12) 2002 acenta . The window regulator in the drivers door jacked up on me, A mate of mine took a look and told me I'd need to get a motor too:( Anyone know where i could get a second hand one with motor or a new one with motor at a decent price? I'm based in Celbridge, Kildare. I thnk the hard part is finding the motor as I've had a look on some sites like micksgarage/ebay and can get the regulator on its own but with no motor. Haven't been on to Nissan yet but I reckon I'm looking at €250+

One other thing, as the car is 10 years old I don't know if I'll still have it in another 12 months, the problem is my NCT is due in March so it needs to be done:rolleyes: - how reliable is it to buy second hand parts like this?

try a breakers yard for a used one. I got one with the Motor for €25 a few months ago for a mondeo.

Best of luck trying to find one in a scrap yard, this is such a common problem on that model that most scrap yards don't have them for long and even at that you could be buying another flakey one.

€250:eek:. As others have said try a breakers. I wouldn't got near a dealer with this. If your mate can fit it for you, all the better. If not, there's a few independent garages around the town that will fit it. And if you really want to pay 250 to someone, I'll fit it for ya.:D

Kilcock car dismantlers are close enough. Also Partfinder has gotten me out of a hole a few times.

Well, I'm driving a 15 year old Nissan that's still going strong, so age isn't really an issue. (For me anyway). Second hand parts reliability is impossible to say really, but if a part doesn't work the breakers will take it back, replace or refund.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Got mine done here. They dont have offical Nissan ones, they are some generic name and works out well cheaper than the nissan ones.

I've been ringing around and can source the regulator from a few breakers but not the motor. Does anyone know if I got a regulator from a breakers and sourced a motor online like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-PRIMERA-P12-1-8-PETROL-2002-FRONT-DRIVERS-SIDE-O-S-ELECTRIC-WINDOW-MOTOR-/170781441742?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27c35dfece would they work together?

They should work ok if they're both from the same model.
Did you try Dancors contact above?

Mine is a 1.6 and the motor on the ebay link is from a 1.8 so I assume they wouldn't work together. Will try diamond car parts tomorrow.

Engine size wouldn't matter for the window, so it should be fine, once it's a P12.

I tried Drancors contact, no joy, he hasn't got any. I've actually ordered the motor on ebay, I'll try that and hopefully won't need the regulator. Thanks for all the help and advice lads, MUCH appreciated:D

Only one I could find on eBay was for the passenger side, the drivers side one has a much larger electronic module on top.
I'm replacing the drivers side regulator as we speak on my 2006 Primera, my motor was fine, the sliding nylon blocks snapped off the rails.

I checked my motor last night by undoing the 3 hex socket bolts which attach it to the reel.
It drives clockwise & counter-clockwise perfectly, I'd check yours just to be sure, can you hear it running ?.

    Hi,

I've just spent 1200 having timing chain and starter motor done on my 2002 Primera. I need the window reg fixed too, but ran out of cash!

Any advice on how the access and prop the window up? Right now it's held up with duck tape - it could be a month or two before I get this done, but would love to improve the aesthetics until then if possible.

If your window regulator or the cable reel mechanism is gone you'll have to remove it to prop up the window.
I too used duct tape but even that came loose over time.
There's 2 bolts to be removed from the inside of your door trim, one is concealed inside the plastic door handle so you have to clip the fascia piece off using a flat headed screwdriver first.
The other has a black plastic cap concealing in but it's more obvious.
Once they are out you need to get under the trim at the bottom using a flat blunt knife or something similar, you're going to meet a few push in plastic clips that need to be popped as you go around.
Once they are all out the trim is just left hanging on the sill of the window, carefully lift it up to remove.
Firstly undo the door catch mechanism, there also be a few cable ties you may have to snip so you can manoeuvre the trim away.
There are 2 round cutouts (maybe covered by circular foam blanks) in the bottom part of the door plate.
The glass needs to be dropped to this level to give you access to the 2 small bolts fastening the glass to the guides.
Undo these then you should be able to lift the glass up & out.
At this stage unplug the power connection to the regulator motor, these are awkward to get of cause the release clip is around the back where you cant get at it.
There's about 8 small bolts holding the door plate which mounts the regulator, remove all of these & be careful not to slice the wiring when removing this plate assembly.
It's a curse to lift up & out but be patient, it does come eventually.

If something in the cable reel mechanism has snapped you need to order one of these.

If it's the motor then your off to ebay or a breakers yard.

As for the glass I just got 2 pieces of wood with notches in their top face.
Cut them too the right length then jam them against the bottom of the door frame.
Mine held perfectly for months until I got around to getting the replacement parts.
Nissan garages were quoting over €400 for the repair, it cost me €80 to get the part online & do the work myself.

Incidentally these cars were made by Renault under an agreement with Nissan, the regulator cable reel design is a known flaw & were replaced for free in the UK as an act of goodwill.
Pity we're such a small fish.

Best of luck with the repair, PM me or post here if you get stuck.

Can someone please tell me how to remove the power cable for the motor. Trying to remove clips/tacks that are holding the regulator onto the panel
