    Hi all

I'm putting together a fundraising calendar featuring good quality scenic shots (in pretty much any style) of Ardmore Co Waterford - and nearby surrounding areas.

I already have a good few shots from local photographers but I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had anything they'd like to contribute.

Ardmore is a popular little seaside village near Dungarvan / Youghal so I'm hoping that a few of you have been down this neck of the woods armed with cameras.

Unfortunately, I can't offer anything in terms of payment, but if you do have a shot that ends up being used you will be credited on the calendar (should you wish)

You can post here or pm me - whichever you prefer.

Thanks for your help - appreciate it.

Best advice I can give you is bring your proposal to people on Flickr - many on here have issues with giving images for free.

    for example:

are you getting paid for the venture ? Where are the funds going for this "fundraiser" ?

Is the printer getting paid ? ....... Why shouldn't the photographers ? Will the printer have a credit on the calendar - and he/she is getting paid ...yet the photographer doesn't get paid !!

Hmmmmm ...... :| .... I'm also creating a calendar for a fundraiser (not true) ... can anyone who wants me to raise funds for something ...please PM me with their bank account details and give me access to their images so I can sell them and make money for my fundraiser.

What is your fundraiser....who benefits ??? the more people know the less likely to think its not a scam - have proper clarity, explain the costs you have and ask if anyone can help..... if its going to cost €5K for 1000 copies tell people that and explain that its €5 to cover the cost of printing and €5 for the fundraiser....transparency/honesty is key to getting people to give you money.

Fair enough - if that's the case I won't bother taking this request any further here.

Over the past few years I've simply dealt face-to-face with local photography enthusiasts and the results have been good - so I'll stick with that approach - it's probably easier and makes more sense as people who live here are more willing to contribute towards a local project.

Btw the calendar is one of a heap of fundraisers we do to raise money to stage our summer festival in the village www.ardmorepatternfestival.ie (so if you're not up to anything on the 28th/29th July come along - it's great fun - and we've got Aslan doing a free outdoor gig this year!!)

anyway, thanks for the reply pcphoto - appreciate it.

The part that you quoted says "many on here" - he didn't say everybody.
He then followed up with why some more people might not be so willing to give their photos (unknown cause) Which you have clarified!

Don't give up so easy..... and good luck!

As SinisterDexter has said ...it doesn't apply to everyone here and as I suggested in my first post ...try Flickr - browse the pics there and if/when you find one you like - ask the photographer can you use it.

Many people here give images to charities and some just give images - just because someone has asked if they can use it, as a full-time photographer I give images away to whoever I want - if someone asks me can they use an image I ask them what its for and if they will be making money from usage of my image - if I think its a good cause, no problem, if I think someone will simply be skimming a couple of quid for their own benefit - they can find another image they wont get mine.
