    Job description:
    The Department of the Taoiseach is inviting applications for temporary positions in EU Affairs and Coordination Division.
    Ireland’s EU Presidency in the first six months of 2013 is a priority for the Government. The Presidency provides a unique opportunity for Ireland to play a key role in EU affairs. EU Affairs and Coordination Division manages policy preparations for the Presidency, working closely with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and other Departments, and Ireland’s Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels.
    The temporary positions will be for period of between 9-18 months, with the first placements starting in early 2012. A shortlist of suitable candidates will be compiled from which a number of temporary positions will be filled.
    Successful candidates will work in one or more of the following areas:
    · Planning and preparation for Presidency meetings and events
    · Planning and preparation of the Presidency calendar
    · Assisting in the collation of reports and information materials
    The successful candidates should possess the following qualifications/experience:
    · A first or second class honours degree in European Studies, EU Law, or European Politics
    · A strong interest in EU affairs and a good knowledge of EU processes (candidates will be asked to demonstrate previous work experience, specialized studies or academic training in this area)
    · Excellent MS Excel and Powerpoint skills
    · Competency in French or German would be an advantage
    Candidates should also be required to demonstrate the following (through reference):
    · Ability to work in a team and work well under pressure
    · Flexibility
    · Motivation
    · Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    Candidates wishing to apply for the intern positions should:
    · Submit a CV of no more than 2 pages [to include passport size photo]
    · Complete attached application form
    · Contact details of two referees should be included
    Contractual information:
    Salary : €29,024 (per annum)
    - there is no entitlement to Civil Service status
    - Hours of work [9.30 am – 5.30pm : however flexibility is required]
    - Location: Department of the Taoiseach, Dublin 2.
