Moving from practice to industry

I am currently working in a small practice for nearly the last 2 years. I have one ACCA exam left in June and I am tipping away at my performance objectives;) so after another years work experience I will be qualified. Its a very hard thing to believe!!

To be honest where I am at the moment I am not getting very much experience and I seem to be doing the same thing day in day out. I really don't think practice is for me and think I would be more motivated by industry.

My problem is when do I try and make the move? I don't want to wait until I am "qualified" as I don't feel I have enough experience. Also what sort of positions should I be looking out for in industry?

I would love to hear from anyone who found themselves in my situation and what they did.

I knwo the feeling, I moved from Practice to industry when in was half way through ACCA around F7 time... best decision i ever made.. although my hours are sh*te... around 55 + hours per week for what i have learned its def worth it... pay is better too... i still have one exam left and my current salary is €42K plus bonus around €2K PA (very lucky i know)... as avergae PQ is between 35K - 40K.

Ive been heavily involved in each Audit, cash management, full management packs for the enitre group, consolidation for the group, inter company reconsillations etc... so for me the move has def been worthwhile.... even if my social life has suffered...

I would start applying now.... there are good jobs out there.... if you still need one more year experince to fully qualify.. then bight the bullet and go for it... you wont regret it. ;)

Im in the same position, I have nearl two years in a practice done and its the same all the time, not change. It gets me very frustrated at times. Im honestly fearing that when I complete exams I will not have the sufficient experience. I have very little audit experience right now.

Anyway, just wanted to see how you got on?
