Hi Im in my 20s and Id be very interested in doing some modelling. I wouldn't be overly interested in catwalks etc but I'd love even a once off appearance in a magazine or poster. Does anybody know how I would go about this? Should I email companies directly (i.e. rimmel etc) or what?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cliona

I think you would need to get a portfolio of shots together first and maybe approach model agencies then.

Get a portfolio! I use to be with Compton Model Agency, and If you do not know any photographers who are your friends and would take photos for free you need to pay for them. I really recommend Tomek Bogut (he took a lot of photos of me) his professional, nice guy and he is cheap! About 100/200 euro (not sure how much he takes now) http://www.tomekbogut.com/

    Good luck!

You don't need professional photos. Just walk in to an agency or send them photos you took yourself (what is needed is usually on the agency's website) and if they like you they will take you on.

This topic comes up all the time. Have a look at this thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=73748683

You do not need professional photos to approach an agency, nor do you need to pay a "registration" fee or anything like that.

The type of modelling you'd like to do is "commercial", and the agencies would have different requitements for commercial and fashion. Give them a call, they're usually really nice.

Companies contact the agencies with a specification, then the agency sets up a casting, and then the company will cast someone.
