Is it like the other modules, you just repeat the year and retake the module?

I knew a guy who managed to get his degree without doing the INTRA,
I think he had to submit some extra bs project but he got his degree...

Now this was about 10 years ago, so things could easily have changed...

You must pass (or be exempted from) INTRA in order to be allowed to graduate. It has happened in the past that some people have had to do an INTRA after final year in order to be allowed to be officially conferred.

That said, its very very very hard to fail INTRA. Basically you probably have to have done something very stupid to be sacked, or refuse to write your report.

Honestly, you could most likely do nothing for your entire 6 months and still pass. I know i did :D. Might hurt your prospects of getting a job with that company after you finish your degree though.

At least that was my experience about 6 years ago anyway.

I really don't know how you could fail INTRA! I did INTRA in 95 and, OK, I worked hard for the company that got me but look at it this way, you're a cheap body coming in to do some work for 6 months. You're fairly green when it comes to the working environment and everybody already in there in full time employment knows that. You know, you could probably shut down the main server and get data lost and at best have people laugh and go 'Oh yeah, that's the student, feckin eejit' or, at worst, get a talking to and not be allowed near the server again. Actually they probably wouldn't give you anything important enough to do that could cause damage if that was the case anyway. Although I worked hard on INTRA I played hard as well and we had some great nights out and I'd be there some days just staring blankly at a well because I was so hungover so, basically, it comes down to this, enjoy the experience. Hopefuly you'll end up somewhere that gives you a job after college but don't get too hung up on that even. Mostly, just enjoy it. It's a change of pace for 6 months. The report is a bit of a formality too. I submitted something small with a description of my duties. One of the lecturers was due to pop down to visit me but he rang me up one day to to say he wouldn't make it (couldn't be arsed) and he'd have a chat with my boss anyway. Really, seeing as you've made it to 3rd year, we can assume you're interested in the whole computers thing and the working environment is a different change of pace so just enjoy it. Nothing too much to worry about.

Sorry, OP I somehow got it into my head you were doing CA but really, whatever course you're on, by the time you've got to year 3 you're intested enoguh in it and with what you knwo you'll be grand in INTRA. They don't put you designing the Space Shuttle Mk 2 or making multimillion euro currency trades or anything like that so relax and have fun.
