I'm starting a new job next week earning €30,000 a year. Would someone be kind enough to tell me how much I expect to earn after tax? I'm brutal at working out that stuff!

Assuming you are single and have the PAYE and Personal tax credit your PAYE works as below. This is just PAYE only, not USC or PRSI which are not tax.

Standard rate band of €32800 means all of your €30000 is taxed at 20% so long as you have no other income in the year.

    So that's 30000 x 20% is 6000.
You then deduct your tax credits from the 6000 figure.
That is 6000 minus 3300 which gives a PAYE figure of €2700 to pay for the year.

If you wish to know the weekly or monthly figures just divide the above figures by 52 or 12 respectively.

The links below will assist you with working out your own tax as everyone under the PAYE system should be able to do this.
