Six week adventure suggestions

Planning on doing a 6 week trip somewhere this summer and I'm looking for suggestions on a destination. Most recent trip was 3 months in South America (Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia) which I loved. Have never been to Asia, Africa or Central America before. Not really interested in Australia. Obvious possibilities are Thailand, Cambodia or Vietnam, but am open to all suggestions. The only thing that would put me off about the three mentioned is how touristy they seem to have become. Videos like this do not appeal to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUqLN5cSvgw

There will be 2-4 of us travelling and we are all likely to be 25-27. Looking for a mix of adventure, relaxation, good night life and stuff to do and see. Loved Argentina and Bolivia, and liked Peru and Brazil also.

    Thoughts?

It might be pushing it a bit but Cairo to Cape Town is doable in that time frame, especially with all the new roads in Sudan/Ethiopa.

London to Beijing by train with few weeks in Mongolia is an amazing trip, you could then finish with extra time for China/Tibet (or head into Vietnam)

    The usual SE Asia routes.

    Inter-railing in Europe.

Northern India, finishing with sometime in Goa to relax.

Each of those are amazing trips and fairly cheap (with the exception of airfares)

Interesting. Definitely hadn't considered Cairo to Cape Town. Have already done Europe/Inter-railing so that's out. Beijing/China appeals to me but not sure I'd fancy going there by train...is it so you can stop off at various places along the way?

India is also something I've considered. Woah. Spoiled for choice really.

yes, if you have time you can stop off along the way and see some of the countries you are passing through, the Trans-Siberian is a long journey but I thought it was great ... and Mongolia is not to be missed! A week long tour into the Gobi is amazing.

Ahh to have 6 weeks off ... you lucky sod.

I don't actually have the time off yet. Was trying to think of the longest time I could possibly take off while still having a job to return to. Six weeks might just be doable...
