Did you have the course professionally measured? Do you have a course map?

Thanks for the interest. We will be having the course professionally measured, not sure about accreditation yet. It will be a fairly flat route, should be fast.

Did you know that Borrisokane AC (not too far away from you) has a 10K on the SAME day?!! They started a thread in this forum some time ago.

It's just unfortunate, really. There are few enough road races in North Tipp and then like the proverbial bus...........

I had been planning on doing the Mallow 10 mile (also on March 19) but when Borrisokane announced the 10K I thought, "Hmmm, less travel, supporting home county events etc"

Is it too late to change the date? Your numbers will undoubtedly be affected by the clash, and likewise theirs.

Thanks jprboy, you are confusing us with Kildangan in Tipperary. Kildangan in Kildare is just off junction 13 of the M7 (Kildare Village Exit). It's not too far from Dublin for anyone interested in travelling down.

Hi, just to let everyone know we are having the course professionally measured tomorrow morning.
Also, chip timing is being done by a company called championchipireland.
    Disposable shoe mounted chips.
LED screen at the finish showing names and times as the runners finish.
Text messages to all valid phone numbers after the event with runners place and times.
Mats at half way point with data relayed back live to the finish.
Soup and Rolls at the finish for all participants.
We would also plan to have a photo available for all participants (downloadable from Flickr).

:o Apologies, asliothar. I didn't look at the Run Ireland website and just assumed it was the Tipp club.

    Hope it's a great success.

Course is measured using a Jones counter, the De Facto standard for measuring courses. See http://www.jonescounter.com/

If Ultraman did it in 43 mins, it must be a fast course (or else he was on a bike). :)

Very well organised race in Kildangan yesterday.

The results can be found here

    http://www.championchipireland.com/results/index.php

In terms of next year i'd consider looking at the date to ensure there is a greater number of runners at the event. For the amount of work put in by the GAA club yesterday the turn out seemed low enough. I think with the bank holiday means a lot of people leave the greater dublin area for races further down the country. I think a mid summer thursday or sat evening event would get better numbers from Dublin. A team event might also pull in more numbers.

well organised race started no probs and all km markers were spot on. presentations were at 1220 which was excellent (no hanging around). received text with time and link to website about 1ish.
suggest next year not to have it on the monday as most people are travelling home from weekend and check for other races that clash ie. portlaoise 5k, dublin 5k and craughwell 10 mile all clashed. if you do get bigger numbers next year i would suggest portaloos as the complex is small. all positive and hope its on the calender next year
    :):)

    Very enjoyable and well organised.

Would have been good to have the start at the GAA but I guess the route dictates that!

Next year the Saturday would be the better day on the same weekend as the Monday will be the day after Paddy's day.

Well done - hope it's on again next year, or maybe even later in the summer / early autumn.
