Gun crime; the latest news after the 9.00 News.
Interested to see what spin they put on this.

If you can do the job, do it. If you can't do the job, just teach it. If you really suck at it, just become a union executive or politician.

I'll bet that they will do the same as always and won't distinguish between us law abiding licence holders and the scumbags with the illegal drug funded guns.

We will all be lumped into the same category.

I hate the attitude people have with guns the never distinguish between decent licence holders and scumbags out shooting each other, all I do is go for the odd duck/pheasant and a bit of clay shooting well more clays now , and as for the "you shouldnt shoot poor animals brigade" that drives me nuts , I suppose they think there chicken , steak , duck , venicen grows on trees or that the animals were killed with hugs. anything I shoot gets eaten by me or someone who appreciates it.

I find the less people you tell you shoot, have guns or hunt the better, that wa you don't have to listen to all the moaning

Don't read the Daily Mail so - Ali Bracken is doing a right hatchet job on us.

Article yesterday had a quote from FF TD dara calleary (yes I never heard of him either) - he said something along the lines of 'mobile phones can be tracked so why can't firearms' :roll eyes:
Looks like he's destined for greatness........

    Short memory there Grizzly...
...or don't you remember the full-page promotion of an article he wrote afterwards because he was ticked off that his interview was edited six ways from sunday by the PT chaps?

I remember my dad telling me about a local he met after moving into a tiny village in north cavan.
The guy was asking who he was? where he's from? where are his people from? how did he like that car? lovely dog, what breed? how many kids do you have? where were your wife's people from? the whole gamut.

And then capped the whole 20 questions conversation of with :

"Ah sure its a nice little village, great folk, the only problem is they'll go up you hole looking for news!"

Seeing that he is their full time muppett on all things shooting and military..As he is for Slime Time.God help us!!
Been more helpful if your and mine and the four others from boards who complained to the broadcasting complaints comission submissions had been taken abit more seriously.

Well, let's see. It was in the press in a large article on a day when everyone was buying the paper, and it was in a paper that had never given us any coverage before then... so I'm going to go with "enough".
Seeing that he is their full time muppett on all things shooting and military.
May as be, but we kept hearing back that he didn't recognise his own statements, they were so heavily edited, and honestly, I don't see how you can have such a low opinion of the Prime Time team who did the editing, but at the same time think they left his interview footage in pristine condition. I've been quoted out of context by the press myself (four words taken from the middle of a single sentence in a half-hour interview and quoted to give the impression that we supported Ahern's latest giggle when I'd spent a half-hour explaining to the nice chap in the paper why that latest giggle was a stupendously bad idea that couldn't ever work in the real world, would compromise civil rights and was probably just Ahern being petty).
Once you've been on the receiving end, you're probably more willing to listen to someone who says it's been done to them, especially when they go out of their way to give free good publicity to the group being hammered by the editors...
Been more helpful if your and mine and the four others from boards who complained to the broadcasting complaints comission submissions had been taken abit more seriously.
True. Or even if more people had complained officially...

Hmmh, pity it wasnt syndicated to a few more, and was it a biggie for him??after all he does have a contract with the IT to occasionally write somthing for it to fill in the blanks.
So of course he could use his colum to make out it was all a big mistake!!

    Lame!!
Coming from somone who lectures in media studies, and has dealt with the media on a continous basis..If he actually belived he was going to be quoted word perfect and unedited, well then the man is a bigger fool than I thought possible!

    .

Having done a documentary with an Irish film crew living almost 24/7 with me for the best part of a year,of which the soundman was one of the freelancers of the Prime Time crew, and seeing Primetime up close and personal and their methods and "covert recording equipment" and "investigation techniques".I wouldnt rate them capable of investigating anything bar scratching the surface for unfounded juicy bits and not having done the research properly would land them with very sensitive parts of their anatomies in Grannys old laundry wringer!! Which it well and truely did last year!!

So yes,I do know how these people work, and how much an answer can be edited to be so out of context that it doesnt resemble the original question.
However an expert should have known this is SOP with the media, and if he was on our side:rolleyes: Would have known to watch what he was saying.

Even what the film crew wanted shooters to do up on the range was thankfully not even filmed as the pistol lads told them to go stuff it as it was not normal shooting procedure.Least of all on a target range in Ireland!!Things like close ups of mags being dramatically slapped into pistols with muzzles pointing 90 degrees skywards and slides being racked in the same fashion ala good Hollywood action sequences...Imagine if that had been shown!!!:eek:.Hence the reason there was no pistol shooting clips in the programme.Actually very little footage was shown of Irish gunowners.
Once you've been on the receiving end, you're probably more willing to listen to someone who says it's been done to them, especially when they go out of their way to give free good publicity to the group being hammered by the editors...

Damage limitation exercise on behalf of Clonan for his media position as "military and firearms expert",and towards the shooting community, after he discoverd his Prime time pals had stuck him in the mincer...But then for a "firearms expert" to be making such outlandish claims of 308 shooting five miles and the rest.....
True. Or even if more people had complained officially...
And on that note alone the Irish shooting community should hang its head in shame!!!Six people out of what 250k gun owners complained about the prime time programme.
