I have a new Medion computer with provision for a MEDION P83771 3.5" USB 3.0 1TB External Hard Drive.
Is there anyone out there who can tell me if this uniquely connected drive can also be connected to a normal USB 2 cable. I can find no reviews.

USB 3 is backwards compatible with USB 2

    Thank You yoyo/Nick.
I had presumed that there would be the compatability in the interface, but it is the apparent unique physical connection that I am concerned about.
    May I be pointed to a review/diagram?

    Sincerely P

You would need to plug a USB 2.0 cable into the drive (as the cables are different), however the drive should work fine with the USB 2.0 cable, if there is a different connector to USB on the drive, a la Apple then you would likely need to find a USB 2.0 cable for that custom connector
