Hi all....im putting up a newly bought lidl satellite package and am having some difficulty getting british channels. On a dish that i use i have the dish pitched at 20 deg for 28.3 e astra. the azymuth setting on back of the lidl "kite" seem to be set at 20deg. the box is set up for correct satellite, and the signal is top class. But its all german, armenian, albanian and eastern european!!!! i can only think that its the azymuth thats the problem as its lined up spot on.....any suggestions or answers would be gratefully accepted.....cheers....JPH

Azimuth refers to the horizontal plane, you're not lined up 'spot on' if you have the wrong satellite.

Post some of the channel names or tp frequencies so we'll know what sat. position you're on.

sounds like you need to go right a few inches. remember to move the dish up and down as you move it slowly to the right. try it

Thanks folks....dish pointing @ 135 se. 20DEG pitch....signal strength 85/90 %. quality also top notch.... maybe in antennae set up somethings wrong? lnb= universal.... its all factory set. but the dish does look to be too straight even though it points @ 20deg..... im flummoxed. JPH...SOME CHANNELS ....islam tv,armenia, albanian, rtl, sky italy ithink..some german...

Just use the dish elevation markings as a rough guide (& your compass too, for that matter).

What channels are you receiving now? You won't get onto a different sat. position merely by adjusting elevation.

It looks like 13 east you're receiving there; if that's the case you'll obviously have to go a bit further east & lower your elevation.

Just a guess but..click the menu on you remote then click tv channel list, then make sure that is on astra 28e and not 19.2 or any of the others. If your getting the german channels it sounds to me as if you are on 19.2 rather than 28.

cheers... its also a standard twin lnb. and i assume that i leave diseqc settings at default. The receiveris an SL 65. and CO 80 dish. any extra knowledge?

This will only apply if you have a multisat system with diseqc control. If it's a fixed dish with one LNB, it will only pick up channels from the satellite position it's aligned on.

Ok sorry to have butted in it was only a thought, but has anyone ever figured out what infra red code the lidl remote uses...

Just align the dish properly. Success here will generally become apparent when you actually receive the channels you're after, not when you've set the dish to some inaccurate elevation or compass scale.

Yes, the satellites aren't that hard to find, they're in geostationary orbit which places them a fixed distance above the equator. In Ireland this will make them appear to be in an arc, visible from horizon to horizon with the highest point being due south of your location.

As you move east or west of this point, you must lower dish elevation to keep it pointed at the right part of the sky. Just remember that the Earth is round.

can you bring the tv outside so you can see the signal meter from the box?
move the dish a little right then move it up and down continue till you find the signal then do some fine tuning.

What do you mean move it right? From what perspective?

And why "up and down"? It will either be one or the other, all the OP has to do is find out for certain which sat. he is on atm & work from there.

ronnie, of course your right. i was thinking of when i set up my t90 whitch is a mirror. What i should have said is left a bit and down a bit . A small movement can make a big difference

    maybe this could help.

 You already started your own thread & this one has nothing to do with your problem anyway.

I replied to your other thread, I might delete it now . . .

Have a look here and put in your exact address and zoom into you location.

    http://www.dishpointer.com

The satellite you want is called "28.2E". From Ireland this appears to be:
    Elevation: 21.4°
    Azimuth (true): 139.5°
    Azimuth (magn.): 143.6°
    LNB Skew [?]: -15.3°

If you are picking up German stations then the dish needs to be moved more eastwards than it currently is. As you move it more eastwards, then it needs to be a little lower (elevation)

The signals from the UK stations arrive from the South East. Signals from German stations are slightly more southwards, and a little higher.

    Move dish very, very slowly.
