Bring car to the UK

I'm going to be moving to the UK at the weekend, for 2 or 3 months work, maybe more.
I'm planning on getting the ferry over and bringing the car, I don't really want to be relying on public transport of that long, especially if working peculiar shifts.
Just wondering, is there anything I need to do in order to be able to drive legally over there? I'm presuming my Irish licence is fine? I must ring my insurance company, but I presume I'd be covered by them aswell?

You will be covered third party for sure, and therefore road legal.
But any other cover (fire, theft, own car accidental damage, windscreen, etc) might be not valid over certain period of time spent abroad.
Just ring your insurer to find out.
What insurance company are you with?>

Might be third party only. I'd ring them straight away, you're not leaving yourself much time to sort out alternatives if there's a problem.

+1 on the comments re insurance.

Remember you also need to carry your licence, VLC and original insurance certs in the car at all times.
