Mitsubish FTO - parts accessibility?

I was thinking about purchasing an FTO and take it to my home country (Poland) to have a nice run-around vehicle over there for my visits.

However I'm wondering about parts accessibility for those cars. According to wikipedia there were only about 36,000 of those cars made, mostly for Japanese market.
There is a good few of them in Ireland, and most which are for sale can be bought relatively cheap, which seems to be understandable during recessions, as insurance, tax, fuel and repair bills for those cars are big.

What I want to find out if this car shares any parts with other mitsubishis?
Is the 2.0 V6 MiVEC engine used in any other car?
If not, how does anyone get even a simple parts like timing belts, brake pads, etc, not even mentioning if something more serious would break down.
Is there a need to import parts from Japan, or do just everyone use the second-hand parts from other FTO's?

In Poland where I would be planning to keep it, there would be almost none of FTO's as they were only made in RHD version.

Anyone could tell me how does it look in relation to parts accessibility?

I had one and got all my service items from camskill. It was very reliable I have to say.

The engine is unique to the FTO. The 2.0 v6 gallant has a similar engine but it ia essentially a mirror image afaik.

Forgot to mention, there is also an owners club website that is a great resource:

There's a few lhd conversions going around, one thing worth checking is whether a car has to be a certain emissions level or EURO compliant.

    Thanks guys.
Camskill prices don't look bad. I was actually expecting way worse.
Also their postage rate to Poland is allright.

I looks like hopefully this year I will become a happy FTO owner ;)

They're going for buttons now. Even 5 years ago when I bought mine they were all 6 grand or so. Now you can pick up mint manual gpx and GPVR models for €1500

On that point, manual mivec is the only way to go.

I don't want LHD conversion. RHD will do.
While at the moment it's impossible to register RHD in Poland it should change soon. Whenever it happens there shouldn't be any problems with emissions level. However I don't know where I'm going to find LHD lights (they will be required) for FTO as they probably don't exist. :o

Exactly. That prices are very encouraging.

That's exactly what I'll be looking for.

They're projector headlights, so its possible to change them (with great difficulty of course)

I know of one guy who regd an FTO in France or somewhere who sucessfully changed them.

I still miss my FTOs :(
