The Age of Consent in the Future will be 40

As the Title suggests what Age do you think the age of consent will be in the Year 3000.

Let me try to explain this as best I can

Back in the day ( pyramid building days ) the average human would live ( speculating here ) to about 30 years of age.

If in todays terms the age of consent being 16 was a law back then then people wouldn't be shagging until they were 40 yrs old ( in todays age )

As time goes on and medicine progresses we live longer so if humans in the year 3000 live until they are 150 years of age the age of consent will undoubtedly rise as well to the age of 40

So just wondering how many people here in future terms would be considered pedo's ???

where as in Egyptian times you'd be married at 10 etc etc...

I think the age of consent has more to do with physical/sexual maturity than with life-span.

If we manage to live longer by slowing down our development then maybe it'd move to 40ish, but I doubt it.

I really doubt it only if we become a nation of nerds in the year 3000 would it be 40!

Doubt it be a country of nuns and priests unless they can marry and have kids. So religion probably won't exist by then so age of consent at 40 is a bit outstretched from that point of view.

In all honesty, no-one could wait till then???

Must correct you the age of consent is currently 17 here in this country!

If anything the age of consent will either go down to 16 I say or else go up to 18, 19, 20 or 21.

I highly doubt they will decrease the age by much, they are talking about increasing the age of consent as it is! So my guess it will increase between the ages of 18-21 but not anymore than that.

What will happen is, they will increase the age of consent but there will be more marriages and births as younger people will get married at a younger age and a steady flow of births will be to younger mothers than the typical 30-40 something.

The population needs to grow to an extent for a better future in this country and bring a new generation into this world that will help this country become fruitful again but not to the degree of the celtic tiger, don't think that will ever happen but something like what happened after the 1980's recession and before the celtic tiger is probably the best Ireland will ever get again to improve its economy to that degree.

It be unrealistic if the age of consent is 40 considering a woman's body clock increases in her 30's and chances of getting pregnant drops once she hits 35-40 onwards. So doubt they increase to 40 if the country wants to keep populating. The country is already an ageing population as it is, so more younger people the better!

Shouldn't matter what age someone waits to have sex for the first time either!!!

Ah Yeah I meant it should matter in terms of younger people... the age of consent is a good thing.

But not many people actually died at 30 - lots died under 5, but if you survived childhood, then living to 60 or more was expected - so the average lifespan was 30.

If anything, age of consent should go down, as, because of better nutrition and fewer childhood illnesses, children hit puberty several years earlier than they used to.
