Ive been looking into rooting my Wildfire to see if it can speed it up somewhat and im at a loss as to what way to go about it. Between using
Revolutionaryor using one of the longer drawn out methods i really dont have a clue whats the best way to go about it and the less riskiest way as id rather not brick it and have nothing.

When I used to have my Wildfire I had to use a beta of Revolutionary iirc. Unrevoked doesn't work with stock Android 2.2.

I had to use my Linux netbook to do it, the Windows version didn't work for me. I'll assume that that particular issue has been resolved.

    Right, 3 questions...

Was this difficult or straight forward to do?

    Did it take long?

Does it reset the memory of your phone?

It's not too difficult. Revolutionary is a bit more convoluted than Unrevoked, but not by much. Once you have S-OFF, you have to flash another file to get root, it's in a link to the documentation on the Revolutionary page I linked to before.

It doesn't reset your phone data, but if you're planning to install a custom ROM you'll have to backup your data. Installing a custom ROM will involve wiping all of your data before putting on a new one iirc.

Total time (s-off, root, backup, restore) to do this, about a hour I think? I'm not too sure, I don't have the Wildfire any more and I saw no reason to root my current Android.
