waiting on P60

    Hi All,

I'm confused! Have been reading many different things but no answer.

A close friend changed jobs recently (three weeks). They got their P45 the week after finishing, but have been chasing the P60 ever since.

The previous employer is saying they are waiting on accountants, and today say that it could be another couple of weeks.

The thing is, the previous employer is closing in the next couple of weeks (but hasn't been upfront with this info)

If the P60 doesn't show before then, will this friend be still able to chase the previous employer about it?

A bit clueless on this, and friend has tried getting info from citizens info and revenue with no help or info offered :(

any advise? Or can anyone guess why it would be delayed?

    Hi

The P60 is usually issued at the same time as the p35. The P35 filing deadline is 15 February. You may need to wait a short while until you get your P60.

If the P35 is filed you should be able to get the info from the revenue commissioners.

    Kind Regards

    Thanks dbran.

So even if this business closed in the next week or two, it can still be followed up with the revenue?!

Yes. Provided the employer files the P35.

It can still be followed up alright but there is no guarantee that the P35 will ever be filed or the P60 issued. It could be filed today or next week or months from now. There are lots of companies who don't file until March or April. Does your friend have the last payslip for 2011 as that should contain the same info as the P60/P35.

Yeah, the payslip is available alright. Is it the end of the world if the P60 isn't provided?

It's just the employer isn't very trustworthy..

Not particularly, unless its required for a specific reason.

If the employer if filing P35's online they have until the 23rd Feb. The deadline for P60's is the same as the deadline for P35's. All P60's must be issed to employees by 15th Feb.

No, but it's a pain in the a** for you. It's one of the most important tax document you ever likely to have! There's a lot of key information on it, Tax, Social Insurance, USC.

The answer is further up the page. Your employer had until mid Feb to issue it to you.
