Hi Guys. We've provisionally booked the Hodson Bay Hotel for our wedding venue it's the first place we have seen and we both fell in love with it. We are going to view other hotels this weekend so as not to be too naive and book the first place we see. I was wondering has anybody ever been to the Hodson Bay for a wedding or even had the hotel for their own venue. The staff seem really nice and helpfull, and they have offered us quite a good deal. I'm just wondering is it worth it and will they be as nice and helpfull on the day? Any help is greatly appreciated :D

Hodson bay been mentioned a few times previously if you use the search tool in boards.

Its a really decent spot. sufficiently out of the way but only an hour from dublin, great scenery over the lake.

Was at a wedding there 2 years ago and couldn't fault them. Food was good, bar served til the small hours, nice views over the water.

Got married there last year (ceremony too!).

Couldn't recommend them more. They gave us a fantastic price from the outset and we got them down from that. The staff were incredibly helpful couldn't have looked for better - the day went like clockwork!

Food was first rate, people are still talking about it! They even went so far as to get a particular Irish microbrewed beer on tap into the bars for me for the weekend (and after bumping into the bloke fromthe brewery and chatting to hime about it, apparently it wasn't without some hard work and effort in the part of the hotel).

The lady who does their flowers is brilliant, she did exactly what we were after and then some.

Beautiful location, convenient to pretty much anywhere in the country. Everybody said it was the best wedding they've been to, and I know many meant it! ;)

I'm from the area, and it has a great reputation locally, a lot of locals would have their own receptions there which says a lot about it being highly thought of. Have been at a good few weddings there and its always spot on, good food, the bar throws out the drink til the wee hours, and the hotel itself is well looked after and set in a lovely location.

As a guest at a wedding there ,the wedding meal itself was fine.
    The hotel is fine.
What I did find was the service was not very good in the bar and restaurant,it was slow and unreliable, this was 3 years ago though.

Food was ok, the reception room was very big and needed a lot of people to make it feel comfortable. For pictures it is superb if you get the weather
