Medical referee assessment

    HI,
I'm on sickness benefit and hand in certs evry week. I have been called for a medical review.

I have all my consultant reports, scans and letters to verify my diagnosis but they are a few years old. I have always tried to soldier on with my illness and worked a 3 day week untill 6 months ago.

Do you think I should go and have my medical files updated, get an appointment for a specialist just to say i'm still living with the same condition. It's a chronic pain condition and I really just try to control it without too much doctors appointments. I also fall just below the cut offf for a medical card so I would have to spend money on this appointments to get up dated. About €135 for each appointment.

I just feel I have to convince the referee because of others misgivings and it's adding to my stress.

My GP has encouraged me to go for invalidity pension and I have enough stamps.

    Any advice welcome.

Disability linked payments are based on the medical evidence. The more you have, and the more recent it is, the stronger your case will be.
