    Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice as to best way to take care of this rip in the rear wing of the wifes car. Obviously I need to treat the rust and then what would be best method to fill the whole and get it to a reasonable standard.

    Thanks in advance

That rust is gone beyond treating. It needs to be cut out at that stage and replaced with fresh metal.

So treating with something like Kurust and then filing is a no go?

It depends on the value of the car, if it's a banger treat, fill, and paint.
It's an NCT fail as well.

Its an eleven year old run around Fiesta so looking for a cheap and cheerful fix.

Thought alright it would make it fail the NCT.

Kurust isn't going to do anything. Kurust is for surface rust. That metal is beyond saving. Even if you briefly held off the advance of the rust, the hole is an NCT failure, and if you fill it, the first pothole with a hole that large and the filler will fall out.

what you need to use is a strong amid not Kurust as the acid dissolves the rust. then I think you will be able to fill it. I don't think it will fall out.

I do this sort of thing for a living. The filler *will* fall out. Go get the metal cut out and replaced, no quick fixes will work here.

Any idea of a ball park figure it would set me back; not too concerned about the colour of the wheel arch matching the wing perfectly

To get a good job done, budget about 350. Some guy in a backyard with a welding rig and some aerosols, in and around 200 ish.
