Anyone know if you can weld a new flange onto a standard mild steel exhaust?

The flange at the cat section of my forester is blowing and seen its a dual cat, the cheapest new one from a garage is €900 (or up on €500 from a specialist).
I cant find one from a breakers, so wondering could a new flange be welded on?

Yep, once the metal is sound it should be fine, a welder might prefer to chop off both flanges and weld in a straight piece, well do able anyway for someone welding all the time.
