    hi All

I want to plumb in my dishwasher but it is about three metres away from where i connect the inlet hose, and the outlet pipe. i was in a spares supplier store today looking for longer hoses than normal, and the man said it would burn out the pump after 2 weeks using these long hoses!

is this true?? i'm very very stuck for space, thus the problem

    thanks in advance xxxx

Should be fine , i have seen dishwashers in years with extension hoses fitted and there was no problem with them , they are sold for a reason . Check the appliances instructions first though.

Alternatively, could you extend the outlet pipe so that its close to the dishwasher??

The problem won't be the incoming water, as it has to go through how many metres of pipe in your house, before it even gets to the kitchen, a couple more ain't going to make any more differance.

The problem might be the waste pipe, do you need to extend this too? This should have the waste pipe at the correct height and fall behind the machine. There's nothing to say this can't flow for a few meters, after the initial fall, if its done correctly. Or if its near the sink you might be able to get a combination trap to take the waste water away.

Can I ask the same question with regards a washing maching and it beingput in a different location to the existing waste water trap.

Can you use a 2 meter grey plastic flexi hose extension for a washing maching?

Will it damage the washing machine??

    Thanks.

    Allmighty.

As sullzz said: read. The manual.

The standard home appliance will allow for it's own height in pumping pressure of waste water. That's roughly 0.1 bar, or 1 meter 'head'.

After this straight upwards rise from the appliance it can be as many meters of downfall as wanted, more than 1 degrees of slope ( ca.2%) being the minimum.

    PS
Pumps can't burn out as long as they are surrounded by water.

Biggest issue that I see with extending it like that is that you will end up with a long flat section that may well blocl with detergent etc over time. Hence my suggestion earlier to try and bring the actual outlet pipe closer if possible at all. There is absolutely no issue with the water inlet side, just the outlet.
