Intermittent Electrical Problem

The drivers door on the E38 has an intermitent problem. Most of the time the central locking works fine but sometimes it won't open or close. All the other doors are fine. Occasionaly then the window switches on the drivers door don't work, i.e. all other switches work fine but the master block on the drivers door wont. Similarly the presets for the seats intermittently won't work either.

So I'm thinking there's a problem with power getting to the door. If there was a module gone none of these would work at all but as the problem is intermittent maybe it's a crimped wire?

    What do you think?

Did someone around here lately say the door modules give a bit of bother in these? Check for any cut wires at the hinge of the door.

Yeah but if a wire was cut it wouldn't work at all?

That's why I was thinking it could be a crimped wire.

Cut or wires shorting together sometimes can cause intermittent problems. Make sure the wires are ok at that loom at the door. Peal back the rubber cover and have a look first before you start striping down the door card. If it has a door module it will probably log some faults.

I've got exacty the same problem with my e38 750il, works fine, then intermittently won't unlock -and front windows are also out, so it implies fault in PM module or power...
