Wittmann is most famous for his ambush of elements of the British 7th Armoured Division, during the Battle of Villers-Bocage on 13 June 1944. While in command of a single Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger he destroyed up to 14 tanks and 15 personnel carriers along with 2 anti-tank guns within the space of 15 minutes

    John Gorman

first man to destroy a King Tiger in Normandy by ramming it in a Sherman V :)

    Link

but my favourite is Kurt Knispel with 168 confirmed kills

*Knispel's slow promotion is attributed to several conflicts with higher Nazi authorities (for instance, he assaulted an Einsatzgruppen officer whom he saw mistreating Soviet POWs) and general lack of military bearing, sporting a goatee and hair longer than regulations. Only his impressive track-record saved him from ending up in a military prison

    Obviously.

Sure if he didn't do it in less than 15 minutes it would have been a draw.

Many earned their nation's highest awards.

Germany: Ritter Kreuz (RK) - Knight's Cross

Soviet Union: Hero of the Soviet Union (HOSU)

    United Kingdom: Victoria Cross (VC)

United States: Congressional Medal of Honor (MOH)

Let's give their exploits a place to live here at B-IE.

    There's a theme starting here....

discovery channel had a show about how he was likely killed. He was going across an empty field, and got taken out by a canadian tank hiding behind a wall. They worked out that the damage to the tank was consistent with it being shot through the side away from some fireflies.

When I saw the show all I could think was "noob going across the big field at campinovka" :pac:

Two other tiger's were taken out as well. A frenchman took a picture of wittmans tank because the turret was completely blown off and upside down and they know it was wittmans because his number was visible. Killed by a single shot from a sherman at about 150 meters.
