Havent seen a thread here yet.

Eamonn "chick" Deacy passed away today at the age of 54.

He is best known for being one of only 14 players used in Aston Villa‘s title-winning side of 1980/81 over the course of 42 league matches.

He famously didnt receive a European Cup medal in 1982 because he hadnt played enough for villa. The Villa players protested and threatened to send their medals back if Eamon didnt receive one, the players won and he received his medal, he may have only played a handful of games but it shows what the players thought of him, and he’ll always be thought of highly at villa park.
He also played for Mervue United, Galway United, Sligo Rovers, Limerick F.C. and Derby County (on loan from Aston Villa). He won 4 caps for the Republic of Ireland national football team.

He won the FAI cup with Galway United in 1991.

One of the quiet men of Irish football and a true Galway United legend.

Was always great being a Villa fan in Galway and popping into his Veg shop seeing the jersey.
