I wandered lonely as a cloud
that floats on high o'er vales and hills,
when all at once I heard a shout,
    get off the fcuking computer.

I tried it. But found all that thunder and lightning wreaked havoc with my data.

I always aspired to be a cloud. To have no worries or fears and to go where the wind takes you, morphing in shape and size, the whole world like a marble beneath you, just gliding and floating along suspended in time and space.

Is that where the sexiest servers are held?

That's the beauty, to dissipate gently, like dew on a midsummer morning, and then to convalesce again and again in a weightless format of being.

It's all a big con job, I've flown many 1000's of miles and have yet to see a single server sitting in a cloud.

I can control my desktop, from my iPod. Add Windows Skydrive to that and I can remotely transfer files from a computer that could be thousands of miles away for free, even if I'm being stupid and leave my homework on my PC.

    Cloud is bitchin.

That's not really cloud computing is it? I'd consider cloud computing as being storing your files in a central location and accessing them from anywhere / sharing them across all your devices simultaneously. Remote desktop was available as part of windows ME if I remember correctly. Possible before that...

Cloud computing is the future of how we use the internet imo. Think about televisions in five years time, no need for downloading new shows they will all exist in the cloud online no need for sky boxes or any of that anymore!

There are major security issues with storing data on the cloud but the cost for businesses both new and old big and small has been cut dramatically. It's computer evolution at the end of the day

It's a new buzzword for something that's been happening for years. A load of bollocks. You'll hear your manager in work mention the word "cloud" in meetings in an attempt to sound like they're working with new technologies.

Who the F**K coined this term "Cloud Computing"

    CLOUD COMPUTING
    IS
    A
    SCAM

    Shuppose I'll explain myself here.

What's the difference between normal hosting & "the Cloud"

You don't own the hardware or maintain it, that's about it.
BUT - you now also don't own your data - big security risk

granted - a few savings in cost of maintenance of a server but does that outweight the potential of having your data robbed, I would think not.

The reason people in IT don't like the cloud.
    They tuk r dobs

Dont really know the full story with cloud computing :o

Am I right its something to do with storing your data elsewhere (as in not on your hard drive) ?

I remember looking at an article ones about it. It was all just uber-nerd stuff. Devoid of any straight answers.
