Toshiba L650-D Webcam Problem

    Hi all,

I seem to be having a problem with my webcam on my Toshiba laptop and have no idea how to fix it. Whenever I go on Skype or even try to turn on my webcam without any applications it says that it is locked by another application even though I have nothing else open. I have no idea what is up with it. Anyone having a similar problem and know how to resolve it?

    Thanks!

This sounds a bit strange, try checking which processes are running through task manager. If nothing pops up as using it, try uninstalling and re installing the webcam, then see if it works.

It'd be worth checking your anti virus is up to date and run a scan, I always say this when I suspect it's a software issue so apologies if I sound a bit repetitive on this forum!

Have a peep down in your Task bar (Bottom Right Corner) in the hidden Icons...eh Icon (looks like a little triangle) for a program that may be causing the prob.

And do the above. Download, install and run Malwarebytes.

Make sure you can get it again before you uninstall it, Manufacturers site probably has it.

I had a similar problem on a new laptop recently. It turned out to be caused by an app called "You cam" that allows you to put funny special effects into your video stream. It was blocking the video stream until I selected some options and declined the usual registration offer. If you have some program like that it might be worth a shot to open it and get through any options and see if that helps??
