    Got accepted to CA last year but deferred it to this year for financial reasons but will be starting this September. It's been a few years since I've done any Maths so would like to brush up on my skills before going back to college. What should I be looking at?

    Always been good at programming, have Java basics down to a tee and looking forward to developing with it but is there anything else I should be brushing up with? It's been a few years since I've been in education!

    If you have programming skills already you will be ahead of 90% of your class and off to a flyer. Most of your fellow students won't have any experience and some won't even have had any previous interest at all in software and will be starting from scratch.

    Don't stress the next few months trying to scrub up too much on anything in particular.

    At the moment we are covering Probability. We had done sets, Logic, Truth Tables and methods of proof, relations, functions and binomial theorem. Upcoming we have more probability, calculus, limits, differentiation and integration

    Maths is pretty easy, but if you want to get into areas like computer graphics, image processing, etc that u will probably have to spend some extra time doing maths on your own anyway, they kinda teach you the basics only.

    The course has changed a lot since I entered in 92 but by my memory the maths we did was a refresher of Leaving Cert Hons stuff. I'm not a real maths head and got through it. Frankly, and I say this from 16 years (is it really that long :o)real world experience, you're already on a good footing going in with language experience. You'll be well set up for what they are starting you off on, and it won't be the shock for you that it will be for some of your class. A lot of us had some prior language experience in my day and it's a real help.

    Thanks for the informative posts lads, was a bit worried knowing there would be alot of Maths involved and seeing as I wasn't the best at Math back in school thought I might be lacking in comparison to those fresh out of secondary school!

    Just going to brush over it when I have time within the next few months, nothing intensive!
