Why not just set up a paypal account? It's straightforward and reasonably safe.

Just get yourself a 3V voucher. thats what I used to use. Then register the Visa number on your reciept on Paypal

Nope. I originally set up a Paypal account with a 3V card but now I just use my Laser card. I have it linked to my Paypal. It takes a few days to transfer the funds but it's far less hassle than 3V was.

    Hi,

But it does not take AIB Laser. It has to be a mastercard or American Express etc

I'm Bank of Ireland, and it takes mine. It just has to be the bank account that's linked, regardless of the bank themselves. There's an option to link your credit or debit card - go in there and try it. You might need an IBAN code from your bank, I can't remember, but it's doable. It's just fiddly. I don't find Paypal user friendly at all.

You can't link your Laser card to Paypal, it doesn't work. Don't advise people to do something when you're not sure what you're doing.

You can transfer funds from your bank account to Paypal, but this has nothing to do with a debit or credit card. The details can be found within Paypal once you have an account. It can take 3-5 days for the funds to reach your Paypal account.

Yes, fair point - sorry OP, I was wrong. I thought I'd linked my card but it's actually my bank account.

I have a visa debit card, which is the exact same as a visa credit card, except the money has to be in your account for you to purchase something.

I have one with Ulster Bank, I had to open an account so I just opened the most basic account.

I've had my card for a year or two now (can't remember when I got it) and I've had no problems at all with it.

I have my card registered in PayPal too, I had to select Visa as the card option when I was adding it.
