Fuses in kitchen keep blowing.

Firstly, we have a modern house with modern switch board & have added no new or extra appliances to the house recently.

About two weeks ago I went to switch on the Chimney Cooker Hood Fan and it blew out. No switch tripped. I changed the fuse in the plug with correct amp and it worked.

    Tonight the same thing happened.

But in addition I noticed that the Oil Burner had gone !

Assuming that the Cooker Fan might be causing the problem, I unplugged it and left it unplugged. I replaced the fuse for the oil burner and on reset it worked.

But boiler went again:mad: replaced fuse again and back in action..but now gone again:mad:

THe plug for the extractor fan and the fusebox/timer for oil burner are about 3 feet apart in the kitchen,

I had the oil burner serviced two days ago.

Should I call service man back or get an electrician to look at it?

Is it something I could attempt or try in the meantime?

note power is not tripping out but fuses blowing.

When you changed the fuse on the boiler, how did you check that it was blown?
Is it possible that the fuse didn't blow
Maybe you have a problem on the oil supply to the boiler
The extractor fan maybe a seperate problem
There could be a loose connection in the fuse spur outlet or a socket also
It is best practice to have your boiler on a dedicated circuit

Thanks. It looks like the extractor fan is a separate issue.

The Burner cut out last night when on timer.

This morning, rather than change the fuse again, we put it on constant setting and when I hit the reset button, it came on.

I then put it to stay on timer for 1 1/2 hrs but after an hour it cut out.

I have put it back on constant and started on reset button. Going to leave it on constant and see if it stays running for the next 2 hrs approx.

Do I possible have a faulty timer?

ps the fuse I replaced yesterday was the fuse in the "socket" in the kitchen beside the timer (didn't touch anything inside the boiler)..and this looks like it wasn't the issue now.

If it's the high limit stat that is tripping out and you have to reset, then most likely a circulation problem
Check the pump is running(there is a thread on plumbing forum)
if all is ok then a pipestat to over run the pump may resolve this issue
Also try turning down the thermostat on the boiler
