Cheap, family friendly resort/sun holiday destinations. Suggestions?

    Hi all,

I'm looking for a family friendly resort for a sun getaway this year, somewhere all inclusive, with a pool, decent food, and no boozed up 20-year old idiots. The actual country/location doesn't really matter too much, as long as its as hassle-free a holiday as possible at a reasonable price. We'll be bringing a six month old child and are really not into dealing with the logistics of kids on a city break to a busy European destination or doing a lot of sightseeing, so we're hoping to find somewhere cheap, sunny, and safe, with good links to airports etc, and as many facilities on site as possible to take a lot of the work out of things.

Can anyone suggest anywhere suitable that's not too long a plane journey away? Locations we've looked at so far are Croatia, Ibiza, and maybe France if we can find anywhere suitable.

    Cheers.

    Hi

Just wondering did you come up with anything on this? as we are looking at a similar type holiday with a 4 year old. Did you look at any of the 'club meds' good, but can be expensive...

Nothing so far, but a few people recommended Ibiza believe it or not. Apparently once you get away from the mad side of the island where all the clubs etc are, it's beautiful and quiet and family friendly.

We were looking at lanzarote, and it all looked nice except that the hotel we had settled on got poor reviews. That's as far as we've got so far. We've had a bit of a rethink on it lately, we haven't done much on it as a staycation might be on the cards instead, but if we find anywhere nice I'll post back.

If you're looking at Lanzarote, we stayed in Costa Sal last autumn and it was a great spot for us. Our daughter was two at the time and the baby pool was perfect. The staff are lovely and it's very family orientated. It's about 250m to the beach and there's a lovely prom with some bars and restaurants dotted along.

It's in Matagorda, which is a quiet resort about 6km outside Puerto del Carmen, so you don't have to deal with the madness unless you want to. Well, I say mad, PdC is really tame compared with the main resorts on GC or Tenerife.

In terms of accessibility, Matagorda is very close to the airport and €12 will get you a taxi from the airport to the resort. There's bus stops adjacent to the Costa Sal with regular bus services to PdC and to Arrecife.

Being close to the airport (and on the final approach) you do get a fair bit of noise from air traffic, however you don't really notice it after a few hours and it makes for a bit of a distraction watching them come in. You can walk from the Costa Sal to the end of the runway in less than 20 mins and it's a bit of fun having jets pass right over your head!

Ibiza is lovely too once you get away from the main resorts. If you head to the north of the island, check out Portinatx. It's a beautiful cove with a good selection of accommodation and it's also very child friendly.

Have you looked at the Salou area in the costa dorada. Ryanair fly into very nearby Reus airport. Salou is very family oriented, personally we dont stay in Salou but on the quieter outskirts. Salou has fab beaches and the famous portavnetura theme and water parks plus much more.
